Mr C from Rochester had suffered with two ulcers for over a year. In late April 2012 he presented with wounds measuring 8.5cm x 3mm in depth and 2cm x 3mm in depth. He had to use crutches to assist him with walking, was experiencing a lot of pain and unpleasant amounts of fluid.
His daughter was due to get married and he was very concerned that his condition meant that he would not be able to walk her down the aisle. He was originally treated using VAC therapy then switching to Aquacel Ribbon and Mepilex, without much improvement. His nurse decided to start a treatment course with Accel‑Heal® to increase the probability of his wounds improving and healing.
After just 12 days of treatment the wound bed had started to change with the pain becoming more bearable. Within 40 days the patient was off his crutches and walking unaided, thereby improving circulation, the fluid was reduced and the wounds had started to heal. His pain had reduced to zero.
In September 2012 his wounds had both completely healed and he was able to walk his daughter down the aisle on her wedding day.
