Frequently asked questions from patients

Do all wounds require a 12 day treatment course?

It is necessary to complete the 12 day treatment course for all sized wounds. For most chronic wounds, one treatment course is required to achieve effective outcomes.

Does Accel‑Heal® improve granulation and if so, how?

Yes it does. In clinical trials 95% of patients experienced improved granulation.

How big is an Accel‑Heal® unit?

Accel‑Heal® is a small, portable and discrete device measuring just 7cm x 4cm x 2cm.

How soon will I see results with Accel‑Heal®?

Accel‑Heal® is not expected nor designed to heal the wound within the 12 day treatment course. The 12 day treatment course induces the healing process, while standard care is continued. Patients may notice an improvement in granulation and a reduction in exudate, wound oedema and pain soon after beginning the Accel‑Heal® treatment course.

Will I feel anything during treatment with Accel‑Heal®?

You may experience a slight tingling sensation. This is normal and should not cause concern. You should not experience any pain or discomfort as a result of an Accel‑Heal® treatment course. In the unlikely event that you do, the Accel‑Heal® unit should be switched off and the electrode pad plasters removed immediately.

Will the treatment affect my ability to continue with my everyday activities?

No. Accel‑Heal® is much smaller and portable than any other available device and measures just 7cm x 4cm x 2cm. This means that the unit can be placed into your external dressing or tucked into clothing, enabling you to continue with your everyday activities.
