Accel-Heal® Effectiveness
Each patient's wound was measured at the start of the trial, before the application of Synapse Accel-Heal® micro-current. Then at each of the subsequent visits and finally, 20 weeks after Visit 1.

Exudate Levels
The clinician assessed levels of wound exudate.
The exudate level was scored on a scale of 1-10. 1 for no exudate up to 10 for high levels of exudate.

Pain Management
Each patient was asked to provide a reference
to the pain they were experiencing as a result of their chronic wound.
On a scale of 1-10,
1 = no pain - 10 = extreme pain.
Costing
The Wound Healing Centre has undertaken a large amount of audit work on cost of dressings and have found that an average cost, prior to admission to the centre, is £24 per dressing change. This includes everything that will be used for a dressing change but does not include nursing time or travel. Patients dressing change was every 3 days prior to application of Synapse's Accel-Heal® This equals 10 dressing changes every month at a cost of £24 per dressing.
This equates to £240 per month and £2,880 per year without counting the cost of nursing time.
If nursing cost was included, a conservative estimate of the cost of the dressing change would be doubled at £5,760 per year making the total cost of treating Mr. WF's wound at £19,008 over the 3.3 years of treatment.
